When configuring WDM services, you need to configure different boards in the network. The various types of boards and the procedure for configuring the board parameters are described here.
WDM Board Types
In terms of functionality, WDM boards are categorized into the following types.
Configuring Board WDM Interface Attributes
Configure the WDM interface attributes of boards to meet the engineering requirements. Every board has its own specific parameters, but the parameters are set in the same way. All interface parameters can be queried.
Configuring the Service Type The services can be transmitted normally only when the type of the services at the WDM interface of the board is the same as the actual service type.
Setting the Primary, Secondary State of the Port or Channel
Primary state describes the basic and primary states of an entity. Secondary state provides the extra information relevant to primary state. The following steps describe how to configure the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel.
Open and Close the Laser
The laser can be set to open or close by using status parameter configuration.
Setting Automatic Laser Shutdown
Automatic laser shutdown is a procedure to automatically shut down the laser when there is no input light and stop emitting optical signals. For example, when an optical interface board does not bear services, a fiber fault occurs, or the received optical signals are lost, the laser is automatically off. This reduces the on period of the laser, extends the service life of the laser, and avoids exposure to hazardous levels.
Configuring Ethernet Boards
During the service configuration or test on an Ethernet board, the Ethernet board attributes must be configured.
