Performing a Loopback

The loopback is a common and effective way to locate equipment faults. By using the U2000 Web LCT you can set a loopback for equipment.

The support for loopback functions depends on equipment types. For details, refer to the specific equipment manuals.

A loopback can be performed for different objects.

Setting the OTU Loopback
OTU loopback modes include the terminal outer, facility outer, terminal inner and facility inner loopback. Terminal outer: A loopback that the client side incoming received signal is connected to the client side transmitter, and does not pass the wrapper/dewrapper IC chip. Facility outer: A loopback that the WDM side incoming received signal is connected to the WDM side transmitter, and does not pass the wrapper/dewrapper IC chip. The OTU supports the outloop function.
Setting a Loopback for an Ethernet Interface
You can set a loopback for an Ethernet interface by using the U2000 Web LCT. The Ethernet interface loopback is a common fault location method used to test and maintain the Ethernet board. The Ethernet interface loopback is used to test the fiber connections on the Ethernet board.
