Setting the Primary, Secondary State of the Port or Channel

Primary state describes the basic and primary states of an entity. Secondary state provides the extra information relevant to primary state. The following steps describe how to configure the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel.

Prerequisites

The board must be created.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose Configuration > WDM Interface from the Function Tree.
  2. Click Query to query the state of the port or channel from the NE.
  3. Select the unit port or channel. Click State and choose an appropriate state to set the Primary, Secondary State.

    NOTE:
    • IS: Sets the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel to be in service.
    • OOS: Sets the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel to be out of service. After Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel is set to OOS, the alarm is no longer reported.
    • AINS: Sets the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel to be automatic in service.

  4. For the boards that support the Loopback, PRBS Through or Null Mapping status function, you can click Maintenance and choose Remove or Restore to set the Primary, Secondary State.

    NOTE:
    • Remove: Sets the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel to be out of Service. After the remove action, there is no alarm generated for the corresponding facility and existing alarms must be cleared.
    • Restore: Sets the Primary, Secondary State of the port or channel to be in service. After the restore action, all existing alarms must be reported.
