Setting the OTU Loopback

OTU loopback modes include the terminal outer, facility outer, terminal inner and facility inner loopback. Terminal outer: A loopback that the client side incoming received signal is connected to the client side transmitter, and does not pass the wrapper/dewrapper IC chip. Facility outer: A loopback that the WDM side incoming received signal is connected to the WDM side transmitter, and does not pass the wrapper/dewrapper IC chip. The OTU supports the outloop function.

Context

NOTICE:

As loopback interrupts the services at the port, it is only used for the fault location and must be released after the fault is removed.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose Configuration > WDM Interface from the Function Tree.
  2. Select an entry. Double-click a parameter and select the loopback mode.

    NOTE:
The loopback modes are different for different interfaces. Generally,
    • For WDM side interfaces IN/OUT, the loopback modes are the Terminal Inner and Facility Outer loopback.
    • For client side interfaces RX/TX, the loopback modes are the Terminal Outer and Facility Inner loopback.

  3. Click Apply. A prompt appears telling you that the operation was successful.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Optional: Click Query to query the loopback record data.
