Configuring Services Using Service Packages

This topic describes how to configure WDM services on boards during new deployment commissioning using service packages. In this way, the commissioning is simplified and the maintenance cost is reduced.

Prerequisites

  • Service packages are applicable to OptiX OSN 6800A, OptiX OSN 8800(NA) series.
  • Before configuring or replacing a service package, ensure that there is no cross-connection or protection on the board.
  • If a port on a 52TOM board is in tributary-line mode and is set to a WDM-side port, service packages cannot be configured on this board.

Context

For details about service package specifications of different boards, see Service Package.
NOTICE:
  • Services on a board will be interrupted when a service package is configured on this board.
  • Querying the current service package on the board is not supported. Therefore, you cannot query service packages on the configure service package window.

Procedure

Result

If Operation failed or Operation succeeded partially is displayed, click Details to see the cause. Solve the issue based on the following causes.

Cause

Solution

The cross-connection object exists.

Delete all cross-connections on Operate Object boards.

The port type is invalid.

Modify the port mode to NONE for all ports on Operate Object boards and set all ports to client-side ports.

Follow-up Procedure

NOTE:

Please Click Synchronize and then perform the following operations.

  • In the NE Explorer, click a board and choose Configuration > WDM Interface from the Function Tree. Check whether Service Type of related ports is configured successfully according to specifications of the selected service package.
  • In the NE Explorer click a board which has been configured with a service package and choose Configuration > Working Mode from the Function Tree. Check whether Board Working Mode and Port Working Mode are configured successfully according to specifications of the selected service package.
  • If the board is a 52TOM board, click an NE in the NE Explorer and choose Configuration > WDM Service Management from the Function Tree. In the window that is displayed, click the WDM Cross-Connection Configuration tab to view WDM trails configured according to specifications of the selected service package.
  • If the board is a 52TOM board, and the service type is OC3-OTU1, FE-ODU0-OTU1 or 4*OTU1 REG. In the NE panel, right-click a board and choose Path View from the shortcut menu. Right-click the desired port and choose Modify Port from the shortcut menu to view the Type.

When the query results are not consistent with the configuration of the service package, it is probably because NE data is not synchronize to U2000 Web LCT. Please click Synchronize to synchronize the data from NE to U2000 Web LCT and then perform the above operations again.
