This topic describes how to configure WDM services on boards during new deployment commissioning using service packages. In this way, the commissioning is simplified and the maintenance cost is reduced.
Prerequisites
- Service packages are applicable to OptiX OSN 6800A, OptiX OSN 8800(NA) series.
- Before configuring or replacing a service package, ensure that there is no cross-connection or protection on the board.
- If a port on a 52TOM board is in tributary-line mode and is set to a WDM-side port, service packages cannot be configured on this board.

NOTICE: - Services on a board will be interrupted when a service package is configured on this board.
- Querying the current service package on the board is not supported. Therefore, you cannot query service packages on the configure service package window.
Procedure
- Select the unit port or channel. Click to set the Primary, Secondary State.
- Separate Board Configuration
- In the NE Explorer, select the NE and choose from the Function Tree.
- Click the Board Type drop-down list to select the required board type.
- Select a service package from Service Package on the right and click Apply. In the Select Board dialog box that is displayed, all subracks containing the selected board type are displayed.
Select the boards where you want to configure the service package and click OK.
- Click OK in the Confirm dialog box that is displayed asking you "Board services will be interrupted if you configure a service package. Are you sure you want to continue?"
- The Configuring dialog box is displayed to show the operation progress. After the operation is completed, the Operation Result dialog box is displayed.

Follow-up Procedure
NOTE: Please Click Synchronize and then perform the following operations.
- In the NE Explorer, click a board and choose from the Function Tree. Check whether Service Type of related ports is configured
successfully according to specifications of the selected service package.
- In the NE Explorer click a board which has been configured with a service package and choose from the Function Tree. Check whether Board
Working Mode and Port Working Mode are configured successfully according to specifications of the selected service package.
- If the board is a 52TOM board, click an NE in the NE Explorer and choose from the Function Tree. In the window that is displayed, click
the WDM Cross-Connection Configuration tab to view WDM trails configured according to specifications of the selected service package.
- If the board is a 52TOM board, and the service type is OC3-OTU1, FE-ODU0-OTU1 or 4*OTU1 REG. In the NE panel, right-click a board and choose from the shortcut menu. Right-click the desired port and choose from the shortcut menu to view the Type.
When the query results are not consistent with the configuration of the service package, it is probably because NE data is not synchronize to U2000 Web LCT. Please click Synchronize to synchronize the data from NE to U2000 Web LCT and then perform the above operations again.
