Querying Optical Power of a Board
The optical power of a signal changes after it is transmitted. This change affects intensity and sensitivity of the signal. If the optical power is too high or too low, bit errors or damage to optical components may be caused, affecting the service. Querying the optical power of the specific board is a common method used during maintenance to determine whether the optical power has changed.
Querying the Input Upper Threshold of Optical Power
When the board detects that the actual input optical power is higher than the upper threshold, an IN-PWR-HIGH alarm is reported. After this alarm is generated, services on the optical interface have bit errors. If the input optical power is too high, the optical components are damaged. On the U2000 Web LCT, you can query the input upper threshold of optical power.
Querying the Input Lower Threshold of Optical Power
When the board detects that the actual input optical power is lower than the lower threshold, an IN-PWR-LOW alarm is reported. After this alarm is generated, services on the optical interface have bit errors. On the U2000 Web LCT, you can query the input lower threshold of optical power.
Checking Whether Optical Power of a Board is Normal
After querying the optical power, you can determine whether the optical power is normal by taking the history performance data as reference.
Adjusting Attenuation Ratio of a Board
If the input or output optical power value is abnormal, you must adjust the attenuation rate to make the optical power normal and stable.
