OTN Overheads

The optical transport network (OTN) is a new optical transport hierarchy defined in ITU-T G.872, G.798 and G.709, which consists of an optical layer and an electrical layer. In addition, the electrical layer and optical layer have a corresponding management and monitoring mechanism and survivability mechanism.

The OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA)/8800 T32(NA)/8800 T16(NA)/6800A/3800A completely supports the management overheads defined in ITU-T G.709. This involves following aspects: In addition, the OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA)/8800 T32(NA)/8800 T16(NA)/6800A/3800A/1800(NA) supports the monitoring overheads at the OTSn, OMSn and OCh layers defined in the OTN standard. Thus, the monitoring function at the OTN optical layer is achieved.
