Setting the Restarting of IPA

When the Restart Mode of IPA is set to Manual, a manual restarting is required when the laser is shut down because the power becomes abnormal.

Prerequisites

You must be an NM user with "NE administrator" authority or higher.

IPA pairs must be created.

The IPA function is enabled.

Context

The following are the two IPA restarting modes:
  • Pulse restart: After IPA determines a fiber cut after receiving alarms, it shuts down the laser of the control implementation board. Then, it tests if the line is recovered by restarting the laser.

Pulse restarting has the following three modes:

    • Automatic: Set Restart Mode to Automatic. The control implementation boardshutdown board tests if the line is recovered by restarting the laser every Off Duration (s). If the line is normal, IPA stops. The IPA state in this case is IPA ended. If the line remains abnormal, the laser shuts down after On Duration (s). The previously mentioned operation is repeated until the line becomes normal.
    • Manual: It is valid only when Restart Mode is set to Manual. Click Manual Reboot. After Off Duration (s), the laser is turned on to test if the line becomes normal. If the line is normal, IPA stops. The IPA state in this case is IPA ended. If the line is abnormal, the laser shuts down after On Duration (s).
    • Start to Test: It is valid only when Restart Mode is set to Manual. Click Start Test. The laser of the control implementation board is turned on immediately to test if the line becomes normal. If the line is normal, IPA stops. The IPA state in this case is IPA ended. If the line is abnormal, the laser shuts down after Testing Duration (s).
  • OSC restart:

Because OSC channels are not shut down when IPA shuts down the laser upon a fiber cut, it is unnecessary to send restarting pulse. Whether the alarms are cleared is the condition for restarting.

NOTE:

After IPA is created, create the OSC board to make it serve as the auxiliary detection board. Double-click the Restart Pulse field on the IPA Protection interface, the Restart Pulse field can be set to Enabled or Disabled.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, click an NE and choose Configuration > IPA Management from the Function Tree.
  2. Click Query to query the created IPA information.
  3. Select the desired IPA and click Manual Reboot or Start Test.
  4. A dialog box appears, indicating that the operation is successful. Click Close.
