Creating and Deleting Board-Level Protection

The board-level protection is a redundancy protection achieved at a board level. When the working link, a port or the working board is faulty, the protection group carries out working-protection switching. The significant advantage of board-level protection is that when the board or working link is faulty, the services can be restored.

Prerequisites

You must be an NM user with "NE operator" authority or higher.

It applies to the TBE board.

Precaution

NOTICE:
When creating the board-level protection, adhere to the following principles:
  • When you create the board-level protection, the available number of ports and type of ports of the working board must be the same as those of the protection board.
  • The protection board must not bear services.
  • When the TBE board accesses GE and FE electrical signals, the board-level protection is not supported.
  • In OptiX OSN 6800A, the active and standby boards for board-level protection can be configured in two paired slots only.

Procedure

  1. Click the NE in the NE Explorer, and choose Configuration > Board-Level Protection from the Function Tree.
