Creating and Deleting Client 1+1 Protection

Client 1+1 protection is created based on client 1+1 protection groups. To create client 1+1 protection, you need to create a client 1+1 protection group for each node.

Prerequisites

The working and the protection OTU boards must be installed.

The SCS, DCP or OLP boards must be installed.

Background Information

The client 1+1 protection can be implemented in the following two ways:
  • The working and the protection OTUs are installed in the same shelf. The SCS can realize the client 1+1 protection.
  • The working and the protection OTUs are not in the same shelf or even the same ONE. The OLP or DCP board can be used to realize the client 1+1 protection.
For details about the two implementation ways, refer to Function Implementation.

In the case of the client 1+1 protection, you need to create a protection group at both the source and sink NEs to achieve bidirectional protection.

Precaution

NOTICE:
When creating the client 1+1 protection, adhere to the following principles:
  • For the L4G and TBE board, the client 1+1 protection and the VLAN SNCP cannot be created at the same time.
  • For the L4G and TBE board, the client-side port attributes of the corresponding channels of the working and protection boards must be the same. Otherwise, the services are not available.
  • The client 1+1 protection and the LPT function cannot be applied at the same time.

Procedure

  1. Click the NE in the NE Explorer, and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the function tree.
  2. Click New in the Port Protection interface.
  3. In the Create Protection Group dialog box displayed, select Client 1+1 Protection from Protection Type.
    • As for the client 1+1 protection that adopts the SCS, the control unit of the protection group does not need to be configured. Meanwhile, NE with Control Channel/Monitoring Channel should be set to NULL.
    • As for the non-intra-shelf client 1+1 protection that uses the OLP or DCP board, the board with Control Channel/Monitoring Channel should be set to OLP board or DCP board.
      NOTE:

When you use an OLP to configure inter-shelf or inter-NE client 1+1 protection, in the Control Channel/Monitoring Channel, choose interface 1(RI1/TO1) of the OLP. Otherwise, the protection units cannot work normally. Similarly, for the DCP, choose only interface 1(RI11/TO11) or interface 3(RI21/TO21).

  4. Click OK. The Operation Result dialog box prompts that the operation is successful. Click Close. The created protection group is displayed in the interface.
  5. Start the NE Explorer of the opposite NE. Then, refer to Steps 1 through 5 to create the client 1+1 protection on the opposite NE, to create the reverse protection.
  6. Optional: Select one protection group and select State > OOS at the bottom of the interface.
  7. Optional: Click Delete. Click OK on the Confirm dialog box displayed. The Operation Result dialog box prompts that the operation is successful. Click Close. The protection group can be deleted.
