Creating and Deleting Optical Line Protection

A WDM NE uses the OLP board to provide optical line protection. If a WDM NE is installed with an OLP board, the optical line protection pair can be created and the revertive mode and wait to restore (WTR) time can be set.

Prerequisites

The OLP board must be created and the OLP board must be idle.

Procedure

  1. Click the NE in the NE Explorer, and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the Function Tree.
  2. Click New in the Port Protection interface.
  3. Click OK on the Confirm dialog box displayed.
  4. In the Create Protection Group dialog box displayed, select Optical Line Protection as the Protection Type and refer to Parameters to enter other parameters of this protection group.
  5. Click OK. The Operation Result dialog box prompts that the operation is successful. Click Close. The created protection group is displayed in the interface.
  6. Start the NE Explorer of the opposite NE. Refer to Steps 1 through 5 to create the optical line protection on the opposite NE, to create the reverse protection.
  7. Optional: Select one protection group and select State > OOS at the bottom of the interface.
  8. Optional: Click Delete. Click OK on the Confirm dialog box displayed. The Operation Result dialog box prompts that the operation is successful. Click Close. The protection group can be deleted.
