Field

Value

Description

Band

C Band, L Band

The waveband where the carrier resides.

Detection Card

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Specifies the slot number and optical port number of the optical power detection board.

Shutdown Card

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Specifies the slot number and optical port number of the optical power control implementation board.

Raman Amplifier

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: NE name-slot number-board name

Specifies the NE name and slot number where the Raman amplifier resides.

If the Raman amplifier is optional, it is not used unless a Raman amplifier is used at the receive end.

Enable/Disable

Enabled, Disabled

Sets whether to start using the IPA.

Status

New IPA Start, Alarm Available, Power off, Restart, Power on, IPA ended, Detect under the security mode, Unknown

Displays the IPA status.

Restart Mode

Manual, Automatic

Sets the IPA restart mode.

Safe Control Switch

On, Off

Enabled: The IPA restart optical power is limited at a safe value. This increases the safety of the transmission.

Disabled: The IPA restart optical power is not limited.

Restart Pulse

Enabled, Disabled

If the IPA-related board detects an alarm, and determines that the fiber is cut off, the IPA function enables the board to shut down the laser of the control implementation board. Then it periodically restarts the laser of the control implementation board to detect whether the line is back to normal.

When you create an IPA pair, this parameter can only be set to Enabled. After you configure the OSC as an auxiliary detection board, you can change the parameter to Disabled.

If the pulse restart switch is set to disabled, the automatic restart function does not work.

Off Duration (s)

100 to 300

Displays the duration of laser shutdown.

On Duration (s)

1.75 to 45.0

Displays the duration of laser turn-on.

In one IPA protection group, the On Duration (s) must be the same. This duration value changes depending on the number of intermediate stations in the IPA protection group.

Testing Duration (s)

80 to 100

Default: 80

Displays the time for IPA testing.

Detection Card Alarm Threshold (dBm)

-35.0 to -14.0

Default: -30.0

Configure this field when the system is configured with a Raman Amplifier. When there is a Raman amplifier, re-set the threshold of the detection board (such as the OAU1). How to set the threshold: First test the input optical power A of the optical amplifier behind the Raman board when the services are normal. Then interrupt the services (by shutting down the laser of the upstream amplifier), open the Raman board, and obtain the input optical power B of the optical amplifier. (A+B)/2 is recommended.

Raman Card Threshold (dBm)

-60.0 to 0.0

Default:0.0

Configure this field when the system is configured with a Raman Amplifier.
How to set the threshold:
  • If P1-P0>4, r=(P1+P0)/2 (dBm).
  • If 3≤P1-P0≤4, Pr=P0+2 (dBm).
  • If P1-P0<3, the Raman board cannot be used for IPA detection. Do not set the threshold and disable the Raman board alarm.
    • Pr the LOS threshold of Raman board
    • P1: the input optical power that Raman board detects when the network and services are normal
    • P0: the input optical power detected by the Raman board in the case of that the output of the amplifier in the upstream station is close.

Raman Alarm

Yes, No

Set whether to use Raman board as the auxiliary detection board. If Raman board alarm is Yes, the Raman board is also used as an auxiliary detection board. Otherwise, it is not used as an auxiliary detection board.

When the Raman board is used as an auxiliary detection board, other boards must be configured as the auxiliary detection boards at the same time and there must be a supervisory channel unit in the auxiliary detection boards.

Enable Auto Laser Shutdown at Raman Card

Enabled, Disabled

Set whether to enable the auto laser shutdown function of the raman card or not.

Auxiliary Raman Card

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: NE name-slot number-board name

Displays the auxiliary Raman card of the IPA.

ROP Card

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: NE name-slot number-board name

Displays the ROP card of the IPA.

Auxiliary Detection Card

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the auxiliary detection board of the IPA.

Table 2 Recommended value about On Duration (s)
Number of the OLA between two nodes 0 5 10 15 20 25 >25
On Duration (s) 3 15 20 25 35 40 45
NOTE:
  • If there is the REG station on the line (all the services pass through), this REG station cannot be configured with the IPA function. If the ALS function of the OTU boards at the REG station is Enabled (defaulted by Enabled), once signals pass a regenerating board, On Duration (s) is lengthened by 10 (0.01s) on the basis of the value stated in the table. If the ALS function of the OTU boards at the REG station is Disabled, the IPA function must be configured at this REG station.
  • If there is an OADM station on the line (wavelengths added or dropped are performed), this OADM station should be configured into an IPA protection pair with the adjacent OTM station (or OADM station) of the upstream and into another IPA protection pair with the adjacent OTM station (or OADM station) of the downstream. To configure the On Duration (s), refer to the table above.
  • To configure with the back-to-back OTM station is the same to configure with two node-to-node OTM station. So two IPA pairs must be configured respectively for the back-to-back OTM station.
  • If the number of the OLA stations between two nodes with IPA pair is not listed in this table, check the interval that it is in and obtain a value according to the ratio. Choose a value that is a little larger than the obtained value as On Duration (s).
