After the line configured with IPA is restored, the laser of control implementation board is started again.
After IPA determines a fiber break, the laser on the control implementation board is shut down. Then, restart the laser on the control implementation board to check if the line is recovered.
Automatic
Set Restart Mode to Automatic. The control implementation board tests if the line is recovered by restarting the laser every Off Period. If the line is normal, IPA state is canceled. If the line remains abnormal, the laser shuts down after On Period. The previously mentioned operation is repeated until the line becomes normal.
If the OSC board is configured as an auxiliary detect condition of fiber cuts, Pulse Restart Switch may not be enabled. Because OSC channels are not shut down when IPA shuts down the laser upon a fiber cut, it is unnecessary to send restarting pulse. Whether the alarms are cleared is the condition for restarting.
Manual
It is valid only when Restart Mode is set to Manual. Click Manual Reboot. After Off Period, the laser is turned on to test if the line becomes normal. If the line is normal, IPA state is canceled. If the line is abnormal, the laser shuts down after On Period.
Start to Test
It is valid only when Restart Mode is set to Manual. Click Start Test. The laser of the control implementation board is turned on immediately to test if the line becomes normal. If the line is normal, IPA state is canceled. If the line is abnormal, the laser shuts down after Testing Period.
Only when the IPA function is enabled, can the laser on the control implementation board be restarted by using the pulse restart method.
In the system, the IPA function is started only when optical signals of the active optical path are lost. When this function is executed, only the lasers on the main path are shut down. No operation will be implemented on the optical supervisory channel. Hence the functions of all optical supervisory channels will not be affected.
