This section describes the principle of configuring the client 1+1 protection.
The principles of configuring the client 1+1 protection are as follows:
In the case of the OptiX OSN 3800A,
- The OLP, DCP or SCS board can be used to achieve the intra-shelf client-side 1+1 protection. In this case, the SCS is equal to the DCP or OLP in terms of functions. However, the SCS the recommended.
- If the working OTU and the protection OTU are installed in different shelves or NEs, the DCP or OLP board must be used as the selectively receiving unit. The DCP or OLP board can be installed in any shelf of any NE.
- The boards supported by the client-side 1+1 protection includes the LQMS, LQMD, TQM, LWXS, LSX, LOG, LOM, L4G, TBE, TMX, LQG, LQM, TOM, 11LEX4, 11LEM24 and 11LOA.
- The OLP, DCP and SCS boards can be installed in slot IU11, IU2 to IU5.
In the case of the OptiX OSN 6800A,
- The OLP, DCP or SCS board can be used to achieve the intra-shelf client-side 1+1 protection. In this case, the SCS is equal to the DCP or OLP in terms of functions. However, the SCS the recommended.
- If the working OTU and the protection OTU are installed in different shelves or NEs, the DCP or OLP board must be used as the selectively receiving unit. The DCP or OLP board can be installed in any shelf of any NE.
- The boards supported by the client-side 1+1 protection includes the LQMS, LQMD, TQM, LWXS, LSX, LOG, LOM, L4G, TBE, TMX, LQG, LQM, TOM, TDX, LSXL, LSQ, TQX, TSXL, 11LEX4, 11LEM24 11LSC and 11LOA.
- The OLP, DCP and SCS boards can be installed in slot IU1 to slot IU17. They are preferred to be installed beside the working OTU.
NOTICE: - The working OTU and the protection OTU must be the same type for the configuration of client 1+1 protection. For example, the LSX board can only be protected with the LSX.
- When the OTU board that is configured with protection accesses OTN services on the client side, enable Non-Intrusive Monitoring of the PM layer of the board.
- In the case of the TN11LQG, TN12LQMS, TN12LQMD, TN13LQM, and TN12TQM, when the Ethernet working mode is set to Auto-Negotiation, do not configure the client 1+1 protection that crosses NEs. Otherwise, the services may be interrupted when a protection switching occurs.
In the case of the OptiX OSN 8800 T16(NA)/8800 T32(NA)/8800 T64(NA),
- The OLP, DCP or SCS board can be used to achieve the intra-shelf client-side 1+1 protection. In this case, the SCS is equal to the DCP or OLP in terms of functions. However, the SCS the recommended.
- If the working OTU and the protection OTU are installed in different shelves or NEs, the DCP or OLP board must be used as the selectively receiving unit. The DCP or OLP board can be installed in any shelf of any NE.
- The boards supported by the client-side 1+1 protection includes the LOG, LOM, LQM, LQMS, LQMD, LSX, LSXL, LSQ, LWXS, TMX, , TOG, TOM, 11LEX4, 11LEM24, 11LSC, 54TOA 54THA and 11LOA.
NOTICE: - The working OTU and the protection OTU must be the same type for the configuration of client 1+1 protection. For example, the LSX board can only be protected with the LSX.
- When the OTU board that is configured with protection accesses OTN services on the client side, enable Non-Intrusive Monitoring of the PM layer of the board.

NOTICE: The working OTU and the protection OTU must be the of same type for the configuration of client 1+1 protection.
NOTE: In the case of the GE service, the LOEU supports the client 1+1 protection by using the OLP board.
