Configuring Port Mirroring

With the port mirroring function, you can observe the service packets on the port without interrupting services. This facilitates the operations, such as test, service activation, routine maintenance and in-service commissioning.

Prerequisites

Applicable to the 11LEX4, 11LEM24, TBE and L4G of the OptiX OSN 8800 T32(NA), OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA), OptiX OSN 3800A and OptiX OSN 6800A.

Precaution

NOTE:

Setting the parameters of a port affect the service of the board. Before setting the parameters of a port, configure State of the port as OOS at the Ethernet Interface. After setting the parameters, restore State of the port to IS.

Context

The service mirroring function complies with universal standards followed by the telecommunication industry. When this function is enabled, other devices or instruments that receive mirrored service packets may need to analyze some information of end users' communications based on the requirements for operation and maintenance. Huawei alone is unable to collect or save the content of users' communications. It is suggested that you activate the interception-related functions based on the applicable laws and regulations in terms of purpose and scope of usage. You are obligated to take considerable measures to ensure that the content of users' communications is fully protected when the content is being used and saved.

Procedure

Select the desired Ethernet board on the NE Explorer, and choose Configuration > Ethernet Interface Management > Port Mirroring from the Function Tree.
Optional: Click Query to query the status of port mirroring that you configured.
Click New, and the Port Mirror Management dialog box is displayed.
Set Mirror Listener Port, Uplink Listened Port, and Downlink Listened Port.

NOTE:
For the TBE board, you can set Uplink Listened Port and Downlink Listened Port at the same time, or one of them.

For the L4G board, only Uplink Listened Port is supported.

Do not select a port where services exist from the Mirror Listener Port drop-down list. Otherwise, creating port mirroring fails.
Click OK, and the Operation Result dialog box is displayed. Click Close.
