Configuring Normal Cross-Connection Services

The route of an intra-board or inter-board service can be established by creating non-protection cross-connection services.

Background Information

When configuring electrical cross-connection services, ensure that the WDM-side optical path number used at the transmit end is consistent with that at the receive end of a service in the same direction. Otherwise, the service cannot be available.

Normal cross-connection services of the OptiX OSN 6800A are classified into centralized cross-connection and distributed cross-connection.
  • Centralized cross-connections: If the XCS board is configured before cross-connection creation, the cross-connections are realized by the XCS board. In this case, the board to be configured with cross-connections can be installed in any valid slots. In addition, before deleting the XCS board on the U2000 Web LCT, the cross-connections involving the board must be deleted.
  • Distributed cross-connections: If no XCS board is configured before cross-connection creation, the board to be configured with cross-connections must be installed in paired slots.
NOTE:

Paired slots in the OptiX OSN 6800A are 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8, 9&10, 11&12, 13&14, and 15&16, however, slot 9&10 are occupied by XCS board.

Procedure

  1. When configuring the add and drop services, first configure the service type of the WDM interface of the OTU. For detailed configuration method, refer to Configuring the Service Type.
  2. Click the NE on the NE Explorer, and choose Configuration > Electrical Cross-Connection Service Management from the Function Tree.
  3. Click Query on the bottom of the interface on the right. The fixed cross-connections of the board are displayed on the interface.

    NOTE:

    The fixed cross-connections of the board cannot be deleted.

  4. On the Electrical Cross-Connection Configuration interface, click New. The Create Cross-Connection Service dialog box is displayed. Set Service Level, Service Type, and other parameters of the protection group.

  5. Click OK, and the created cross-connection service is displayed on the interface.
  6. Optional: Select a service and click Delete. Click OK on the dialog box displayed and the service is deleted.
