Ethernet Service Types
The WDM equipment supports the following Ethernet services: Ethernet private line (EPL), Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL), and Ethernet private local area network (EPLAN) services.
- EPL Service
The Ethernet private line (EPL) service is classified into two types. The first type is based on the port type, and the second type is based on the port type plus the VLAN information.
- EPLAN Services
Based on the Layer 2 switch function, The EPLAN realizes transmission of the accessed data based on destination media access control (MAC) address of the data.
- EVPL (QinQ) Services
EVPL (QinQ) services realize VLAN nesting. The current number of VLAN IDs cannot meet the requirement with the increase of network users. With the configuration of the EVPL (QinQ) service, users can be identified through multiple layers of VLAN IDs. In this case, the VLAN is extended.
