NE User Management

This function describes the NE user management which ensure the NE security.

In this user interface, you can manage the NE user. The options are:
  • Query or modify an NE user information.
  • Create an NE user.
  • Delete the NE user.
  • Modify the password of the NE user.
  • Let online user log out of the NE.
  • Allow inhibited user to log in the NE.
  • Inhibit a user to log into the NE.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click the NE and select Security > NE User Management from the Function Tree.

Button

Description

New

Adds a user to operate the NE.

The maximum number of the users in an NE is 240.

Modify

Modifies the attributes of a user.

If the target user is a default user in the NE, user's attributes cannot be modified.

Set Password

Sets passwords for NE users other than the currently logged-in NE user.

The general can only modify his own password. But the administrator can modify the other user's password.

Logout NE User

Lets online user log out of the NE.

The general user can only log himself out, but the administrator can log out other users.

Login Enabled

Allows inhibited user to log in the NE.

It is used by an appropriate administrator to allow (that is to restore) an existing user that has been disabled by the Login Disabled operation.

Login Disabled

Inhibits a user to log into the NE.

It is used by an appropriate administrator to inhibit (that is to disable) an existing user who is temporarily inactive, but may become active again.

The default user of the NE or a user which is online cannot be inhibited.

User

String, containing 4 to 16 characters

The name of NE user.

It must include one letter at least, and no punctuation is permitted. It cannot be the same as the existing NE user names.

Level

RTRV, MAINT, PROV and SUPER

The operations carried out by the NE user are classified into four levels, namely RTRV, PROV, MAINT, and SUPER from the lowest level to the highest. Each user of higher level can perform all the functions that a lower level user can do. For example, an operation level user has all the rights of a monitor level user. The system level user with the highest level has all the rights. The detailed right settings for each level are:

  • RTRV: all query commands, log in, log out, and modification of its own password.
  • PROV: all settings for fault and performance, partial security settings, and partial configuration.
  • MAINT: partial security settings, partial configuration, communication settings, and log management.
  • SUPER: all security settings, all configuration.

Login Allowed

Yes, No

The user is allowed or inhibited to log in.

Encryption Type

MD5, SHA256, -

NOTE:

The MD5 that uses a 128-bit authentication password to generate the key. The SHA256 that uses a 256-bit authentication password to generate the key.

Displays the encryption algorithm type of the NE user password.

Online Status

Online, Offline

The user is online or offline.

Password

String, containing 6 to 16 characters and one letter character and one non-letter character at least.

The password for an NE user.

Confirm Password

String, containing 6 to 16 characters and one letter character and one non-letter character at least.

The password and the retyped one must be the same.

Canceling User Automatically

Yes, No

Default: Yes

Whether to allow an online user to exit automatically when no operations are done to it for a period.

Time Before Auto Logout (min)

5 to 60

This option is in effect only when Yes is selected for Canceling User Automatically. Set the time of canceling user automatically.

Log Out User After (min)

5 to 60

Specifies the time that will elapse before the NE user automatically logs out.

User Valid Days

Yes or No

Default: Yes

Whether the user is permanently valid.

Password Valid Days

1 to 999

The period in which the user's name is in effect. The unit of the time is day.

This option is in effect only when No is selected for User Permanently Valid.

Allow Multi-Terminal Login

ENABLE, DISABLE

Specifies whether allow multi-terminal login.

Password Permanently Valid

Yes or No

Default: Yes

Whether the password is permanently valid.

Password Valid Till (days)

25 to 999

The period in which the password is in effect. The unit of the period is day.

This option is in effect only when No is selected for Password Permanently Valid.
