Configuring the CAR

The typical function of traffic policing is to limit the traffic and burst of an incoming connection of a network. In the OptiX NG WDM equipment series, the Ethernet service processing boards that support QoS realize traffic policing by using CAR.

Prerequisites

Applies to the 11LEX4, 11LEM24, TBE, L4G board of the OptiX OSN 8800 T16(NA), OptiX OSN 8800 T16(NA), OptiX OSN 8800 T32(NA), OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA), OptiX OSN 6800A and the OptiX OSN 3800A.

Applicable to the LEM18 board of the OptiX OSN 1800(NA).

The Ethernet service must be created.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose Configuration > QoS Management > Flow Management from the Function Tree.
  2. Click the CAR Configuration tab. Click New and the New CAR dialog box is displayed.
  3. Set the CAR ID, Enable/Disabled, Committed Information Rate (kbit/s) and other parameters.

  4. Click OK.
