Customizing Communication Channels Between NEs

NEs communicate with each other through data communications channels (DCCs). You need to configure DCC channels of an optical port, allocate DCC bytes for the DCC channel and set the data link layer protocol of DCC channels. This section describes how to configure DCC channels for an NE.

Prerequisites

The NE must be created.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Communication > DCC Channel Configuration from the Function Tree.
  2. Click Query to query the current DCC channel information on the NE.
  3. Set the Protocol.

    NOTE:
    • TRANSPARENT: No data link layer protocol is required. The DCC channel is a transparent channel.
    • PPP: The data link layer protocol is IP protocol.

  4. Click Apply.
