You can configure and maintain NG WDM NA equipment on the U2000 Web LCT by following the procedure as follows.
Prerequisites
The nemgr_trans process must be deployed.
WDM Network Management Process
The WDM network management process describes the operation tasks of managing a WDM network by using the U2000 Web LCT, and the relations between the operation tasks.
DCN Management
The U2000 Web LCT communicates with NEs, and manages and maintains network nodes through a DCN. In the DCN, the U2000 Web LCT and NEs are considered as nodes, which are connected by using the Ethernet or DCC physical channels. In practice, the U2000 Web LCT and NEs may be located at different floors of the same building, different buildings or different cities. Hence, U2000 Web LCT and NEs are connected through a DCN, which consists of switches and routers. The DCN between the NEs is referred to as an internal DCN.
Configuring the NE Time
Keeping the time consistency between the U2000 Web LCT and NEs is very important for troubleshooting and network monitoring. You should set the U2000 Web LCT time and NE time before service configuration.
Configuring Board Parameters
When configuring WDM services, you need to configure different boards in the network. The various types of boards and the procedure for configuring the board parameters are described here.
Configuring Optical Cross-Connections
The U2000 Web LCT provides the configuration of optical cross-connections. This function realizes cross-connection at the OCh level and grooms services by wavelengths, for future network development.
Configuring WDM Services
You can control the flow direction of electrical-layer services by configuring electrical-layer cross-connections. This helps to implement the dynamic grooming, convergence, and separation of sub-wavelength granularity services, enhancing the networking capability and network survivability greatly.
Configuring Ethernet Services
This chapter describes the configuration of Ethernet services. Through the configuration of Ethernet services and electrical cross-connections, the flexible grooming of Ethernet services are realized.
LAG (WDM Network)
Link aggregation allows multiple links that are attached to the same equipment to be aggregated to form a link aggregation group (LAG) so that the bandwidths and availability of the links increase.
ETH-OAM
ETH-OAM detects and monitors the connectivity and performance of the service trail, which does not affect services.
IGMP Snooping
The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) Snooping function can improve bandwidth utilization and enhance network security and reliability.
STP and RSTP(WDM Network)
The STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) and RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) are used in the loop network. The two protocols realize routing redundancy by adopting certain algorithms and break the loop network into a loop-free tree network, preventing packets from increasing and cycling in an endless manner in the loop network. In this manner, the application of the two protocols can prevent the occurrence of the broadcast storm and MAC address table flapping.
Test Frame
The data test frame is used to test the connectivity status of the network at the SDH side that bears Ethernet services.
Managing the Optical Power
Optical power management is the core part of a WDM system to ensure normal transmission of signals. For multiplexed signals, sufficient optical power is an important factor to maintain transmission of signals over a long distance. For a single signal, power equalization between signals is an important factor that affects the transmission quality of signals. The U2000 Web LCT provides optical power control, equalization, link detection and protection for link fault.
Configuring ROADM
Currently, most optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) systems deployed in metropolitan WDM networks are static, that is, a wavelength operating in different bands is used to add/drop a fixed wavelength group at the fixed node, while the remaining wavelengths are passed through. If service growth requires the wavelength capacity expansion or an adjustment at a node, you need to add a filter manually. Adding a filter results in insertion loss change and interrupted traffic transmission and affects the existing services. Reconfiguration optical add/drop multiplexing (ROADM) adjusts the wavelengths added or dropped at each node on the network in a quick and effective manner without affecting services, and saves the operation expenditure.
IPA
The U2000 Web LCT provides the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) feature that ensures human security in the case of a fiber cut and equipment failure.
Configuring PRBS Test
Some OTUs of the OptiX OSN 8800 T32(NA)/OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA)/6800A/3800A provide the pseudo random bit sequence (PRBS) error detection function. The meter board can be configured to send PRBS signals, and the client side and WDM side of the auxiliary board to transparently transmit the PRBS signals. In this way, you can perform the bit error test of the transmission link without attaching a meter to the equipment during the deployment.
Common Maintenance Operations
To ensure that the transmission equipment can be normally running for long, you need to periodically maintain the transmission equipment or perform some simple operations of troubleshooting on existing problems.
