The U2000 Web LCT provides the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) feature that ensures human security in the case of a fiber cut and equipment failure.
Introduction to IPA
The system provides the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) function. When there is a fiber break on the line, the downstream optical amplifier is shut down to prevent exposed optical fibers hurting human body.
Availability
This section describes the equipment type that support the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) function.
Function Implementation
IPA function is implemented by various boards with different functions.
Configuring IPA
This chapter describes the configuration of intelligent power adjustment (IPA).
Application Example of IPA
Project I is considered as an example to describe how to configure the IPA function.
Verifying IPA
The IPA function decreases the output optical power of an upstream optical amplifier into a safety threshold after it detects the optical power loss in a channel segment. The IPA test is performed to check if the IPA function is started. If IPA is not started, restart the equipment manually.
