Creating an MC-LAG

This topic describes how to create an MC-LAG, including how to create an MCSP and MC-LAG.

Prerequisites

Context

Refer to Principles for the implementation of MC-LAGs.

NOTICE:

Do not create two MCSPs on an ERPS ring with the same Protocol Path ID. Otherwise, MCSP-based communication will be seriously affected and MC-LAGs will not take effect.

Procedure

  1. Create an MCSP.

Dual-homing nodes notify each other of their link status and negotiate actions against faults through MCSPs.

    1. In the NE Explorer, select the Ethernet board and choose Configuration > Multi-Chassis Synchronization Protocol from the Function Tree.
    2. Optional: Click Query to query created MCSPs.
    3. Click New. The MCSP Management dialog box is displayed. Set parameters relevant to the multi-chassis synchronization protocol.

    4. Click OK.
    5. Repeat steps 1.a-1.d to configure the multi-chassis synchronization protocol for another dual-homing node.

  2. Create an MC-LAG.

An MC-LAG is formed by aggregating Ethernet links between two devices to provide dual-homing protection for Ethernet services.

    1. In the NE Explorer, select the Ethernet board and choose Configuration > Ethernet Interface Management > Ethernet Link Aggregation Management from the Function Tree. Click the MC-LAG Management tab.
    2. Optional: Click Query to query created MC-LAGs.
    3. Click New. The Create MC-LAG dialog box is displayed. Set parameters.

      NOTE:
      • Ports used by Main Port of the Local LAG are selected from configured LAGs.
      • Ports used by Main Port of the Local LAG and the MCSP protocol cannot be the same.
      • Protection Type can only be set to ERPS.
      • Set Southbound Port can only support two ports.
      • Reversion Time (minute) can be set only when Reversion Mode is Revertive.
    4. Click OK. A dialog box is displayed indicating that this operation may interrupt MC-LAG services. Click OK.
    5. Repeat steps 2.a-2.d to configure the MC-LAG for another dual-homing node.
