To ensure that the transmission equipment can be normally running for long, you need to periodically maintain the transmission equipment or perform some simple operations of troubleshooting on existing problems.
Querying Optical Power of a Board
The optical power of a signal changes after it is transmitted. This change affects intensity and sensitivity of the signal. If the optical power is too high or too low, damage to optical components or bit errors may be caused, affecting the service. Querying optical power is a common maintenance method.
Checking the Protection Switching Status
On the U2000 Web LCT, you can configure multiple protection modes for the NG WDM equipment. To find the fault that causes the protection switching in a timely manner, you need to periodically check whether the protection switching status of services and boards is normal.
Resetting NEs and Boards
You can reset an NE and board by using the U2000 Web LCT by following the instructions below.
Performing a Loopback
The loopback is a common and effective way to locate equipment faults. By using the U2000 Web LCT you can set a loopback for equipment.
Configuring Board Dispersion Compensation
During network routine maintenance, you can set dispersion compensation for the LSXL/LSXLR board to compensate for the transmission fiber dispersion deviation that results from factors such as ambient temperature changes.
Configuring PRBS Test
Some OTUs of the OptiX OSN 8800 T32(NA)/OptiX OSN 8800 T64(NA)/6800A/3800A provide the pseudo random bit sequence (PRBS) error detection function. The meter board can be configured to send PRBS signals, and the client side and WDM side of the auxiliary board to transparently transmit the PRBS signals. In this way, you can perform the bit error test of the transmission link without attaching a meter to the equipment during the deployment.
