N+1 Protection

The N+1 protection is to use a standby channel to protect the services on N active channels. When the services on the active channel are normal, the standby channel can transmit extra services.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click the NE and choose Configuration > N+1 Protection from the Function Tree.

Description

Clear

Clears switching for the selected board.

Force to Protection

Forces the service to switch from the working board to the protection board. This switching is performed regardless of the protection board state, unless the protection board is satisfying a higher priority bridging request.

Manual to Protection

Performs manual switching from the working board to the protection board. If the protection board is normal, the switching takes place. If the protection board fails or must satisfy a switching request of higher priority, the switching does not take place.

Lockout of Protection

The switching request for the board is denied, but the reversion of switching is allowed.

Exercise

This switch is used to test whether the switching protocol works normally. Actually, no switching occurs and the service will not be affected.

Switching Status

Lockout, Forced switching, SD switching, SF switching, Manual switching, Wait to restore, exercise switching, Non-revertive request and Normal, Unknown

Displays the switching status.

Protected Unit

Displays the protected unit.

Remote End/Local End

Remote, Local End

Indicates the remote or local end.
