LLDP Configuration

Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is a Layer 2 discovery protocol defined in IEEE 802.lab. The LLDP technique allows the U2000 Web LCT to quickly obtain Layer 2 network topologies and topology changes when the network expands at a high speed.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select the NE and then choose Configuration > LLDP Configuration from the navigation tree.

Parameters

Table 1 Protocol Time Parameters

Parameter

Value

Description

Packet Transmission Interval(s)

1-3600

Default: 30

Indicates the interval between two LLDP packet transmissions.

TTL Multiplier

Example: 10

Indicates a TTL multiplier.

If no message is received from a neighbor NE within multiplier x TTL time, all information about the neighbor NE is deleted.

Re-initialization Delay(s)

1-10

Default: 2

Indicates the delay period of re-initialization, that is, the effect delay period after you configure a port from the disabled state to other states.

Packets Transmitted in Fast Mode

1-8

Default: 4

Indicates the number of continuously transmitted packets in the Fast mode.

The Fast mode can be triggered when:
  1. A new neighbor NE is discovered.
  2. The port mode is switched from Disable or Receive to Transmit&Receive or Transmit.
Table 2 Port Parameters

Parameter

Value

Description

Port

Slot ID-board name-port ID (PORT name)

Indicates the port name.

Mode

Disable, Receive, Transmit&Receive, or Transmit

Default: Disable

Sets the working mode of a port.

If the LLDP-enabled port is connected to neighbor NEs over an Ethernet unidirectionally, set the working mode to Transmit or Receive mode according to service directions.

If LLDP is not enabled on the port, set the working mode to Disable.

If LLDP is enabled on the port, set the working mode to Transmit&Receive.

NOTE:
  • When an LLDP-enabled port on the NE switches its Mode from Disable/Receive to Transmit&Receive/Transmit, or discovers new adjacent equipment: Automatically starts the fast transmission mechanism.
  • When an LLDP-enabled port on the NE switches its Mode from Transmit&Receive/Transmit to Disable/Receive, the NE transmits the shutdown packet.

VLAN ID

For example: 100

Sets the ID of a VLAN.

The value range varies according to NEs.

VLAN Priority

0-7

Sets the priority of a VLAN.

Multicast Mode

Nearest bridge

Sets the LLDP multicast mode supported by the port.

Nearest bridge mode applies to discovery between neighbors in the same broadcast domain and crossing bridge is not allowed.

Neighbor No.

Example: 10

Displays the No. of a neighbor.

Neighbor Holding Time(s)

Example: 15

Displays the duration after the neighbor information is updated for the last time, that is, the last time receiving messages from the neighbor NE.

Neighbor Remaining Time(s)

Example: 15

Displays the remaining survival span of a neighbor NE.

Received LLDP Packets

Example: 446

Indicates the number of received LLDP packets. This parameter takes effect when Mode is set to Receive or Transmit&Receive.

Transmitted Packets

Example: 185

Indicates the number of transmitted LLDP packets. This parameter takes effect when Mode is set to Transmit or Transmit&Receive.

Discarded Packets

Example: 0

Indicates the number of discarded LLDP packets.

Error Packets Received

Example: 0

Indicates the number of error LLDP packets received. This parameter takes effect when Mode is set to Receive or Transmit&Receive. The value is the sum of error and discarded LLDP packets. A packet is regarded as an error packet when four mandatory TLVs are all incorrect.

Aged LLDP Neighbors

Example: 0

Indicates the number of aged LLDP neighbors.

Discarded LLDP TLV Frames

Example: 0

Indicates the number of discarded LLDP TLV frames, that is, the number of incorrect TLVs.

Unidentifiable LLDP TLV Frames

Example: 0

Indicates the number of unidentifiable LLDP TLV frames, that is, the number of carried TLVs that are beyond the following range: 0-7 and 127.

Table 3 Neighboring Node Information

Parameter

Value

Description

Destination Address

Example: Nearest bridge(01–80–C2–00–00–0E)

Displays the destination address of the neighboring node.

Type

Example: Chassis ID

Displays the queried type.

Subtype

Example: MAC Address

Displays the queried subtype.

Information

Example: 80–F8–06–6F-E7–DC

Displays the queried value.
