Packet-based Linear MS(RTN)

In this user interface, you can configure 1+1 or 1:N linear multiplex section protection (MSP) station by station.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Packet-based Linear MS from the Function Tree.

In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Packet Configuration > Packet-based Linear MS from the Function Tree.

Buttons

Button

Description

Start Protocol

Starts the automatic protection switching (APS) protocol.

Stop Protocol

Stops the APS protocol.

Query

Query Protection Group

Queries the switching status and protocol status of protection groups from the NE.

Query Switching Status

Queries the switching status of the protection group from the NE.

Shortcut Menu Items

Item

Description

Query

Queries the switching status of Linear MS.

Clear

Clears the switching status of Linear MS.

Lockout of Protection

The switching request for the Linear MS is denied, but the reversion of the switching is allowed.

NOTICE:

When the switching operation are performed, the services may be interrupted.

Forced Switching to Working Channels

Switches a Linear MS forcibly, regardless of the status of the Linear MS.

NOTICE:

When the switching operation are performed, the services may be interrupted.

Forced Switching to Protection

Switches a Linear MS forcibly, regardless of the status of the Linear MS.

NOTICE:

When the switching operation are performed, the services may be interrupted.

Manual Switching to Working Channels

Performs manual switching from the working channel to the protection channel. If the protection channel is normal, the switching takes place. If the protection channel fails or must meet a switching request of higher priority, the switching does not occur.

NOTICE:

When the switching operation are performed, the services may be interrupted.

Manual Switching to Protection

Performs manual switching from the working channel to the protection channel. If the protection channel is normal, the switching takes place. If the protection channel fails or must meet a switching request of higher priority, the switching does not occur.

NOTICE:

When the switching operation are performed, the services may be interrupted.

Exercise

Simulates the switching operation. It is not a real switching. This function tests the function of the protection group and does not interrupt services.

Parameters

Table 1 Descriptions of the parameters for Linear Multiplex Section Protection (LMSP) group

Field

Value

Description

Protection Group ID

For example: 1

The ID of the Linear MS protection group.

Protection Group Type

1+1 Protection, 1:N Protection

The protection type of a linear MSP group.

Protection Group Type

1+1 Protection, 1:N Protection

The protection type of a linear MSP group.

Switching Mode

Single-Ended Switching, Dual-Ended Switching

The switching mode of a linear MSP group.

Revertive Mode

Non-Revertive, Revertive

Sets whether the services protected automatically switches back to the working channel after the working channel recovers.

WTR Time (s)

300 to 720

Default: 600

The WTR time of a linear MSP group.

Hold-Off Time (100ms)

0 to 100

Sets the hold-off time of the linear MSP switch, that's the time interval between the time when the system detects signal degrade and the time when the service switching occurs, in order to avoid repeated switching when the service status is not stable.

The switching delay time is expressed in 100 milliseconds. For example, if you enter 5, the delay time is 500 milliseconds.

SD Switching

Enabled, Disabled

Whether to enable SD to serve as the MSP switching condition.

Protocol Type

New Protocol, Restructure Protocol

Default: New Protocol

Specifies the type of MSP protocol:
  • New Protocol: The protocol that is previously supported and is applicable to new equipment. Currently it is a widely used protocol.

  • Restructure Protocol: Optimized based on the new protocol and provides better protocol protection measures to make the protocol stabler.

A combination of the new protocol and the restructure protocol leads to an NE interconnection failure. Hence, ensure the same protocol type is used by the interconnected NEs.

Select Mapping Direction

West Working Unit, West Protection Unit

Selects the direction of the slot mapping relation.

Available Boards

slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Selects the mapping board in the mapping direction.

Mapped Boards

Mapping direction: slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the configured mapping relation, including the mapping direction and the corresponding mapped board.

Protocol Status

Unknown, Already Started

Displays the status of MS protocol.

Protection Subnet

For example: 1+1_MSP_1

Indicates the protection subnet to which the linear MS belongs.

SD/SF PRI Switching Tag

High priority, Low priority

The priority of the SD/SF as a switching condition.

Switching Mode Indication

Indicated, Not indicated

Whether the switching mode is indicated.

Active

Checked, Unchecked

Sets the activation status.

Active Status

Active, Inactive

Sets the activation status.

Unit Type

Working Unit, Protection Unit

Protection unit or working unit.

Unit Name-West

Slot-Board Name-Port No

West protection unit and west working unit of a linear MS protection group.

Switching Status-West

Unknown, Force to Standby, Manual to Standby, Exercise, Switch upon signal degradation, Switch upon signal failure, Lockout, Non-Revertive Request, Force to Active, Manual to Active, Signal Fail-Protection, Signal Degrade-Protection, Wait-To-Restore, Wait-To-Switch, Idle, Switching, Not Locked out

The switching status of the west line.

Protected Unit

Slot-Board Name-Port No

Displays the board that is under protection.

Remote End/Local End

Remote, Local

When the protection group is in Dual-Ended Switching mode, displays whether the switching request is from the remote end or the local end.

Map as VC4

Checked, Unchecked

Set the mapping mode displayed in unit of VC4. This option is available for the equipment that supports the function.
