Priority for PLL Clock Sources of External Output

When you need to use the line clock source of the equipment as the phase-locked source, you must configure the priority table for phase-locked sources in this user interface. Usually, the equipment uses internal clock sources as phase-locked sources. In this user interface, you can also query and set priority table for phase-locked sources of first or second external output clocks and adjust the priority of each clock source. The available clock source with the highest priority can be used as the phase-locked source to lock the phase of first or second external output clock. An internal source can be assigned with the lowest priority level only.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select the NE and choose Configuration > Clock > Clock Source Priority from the Function Tree. Click the Priority for PLL Clock Sources of 1st External Output or Priority for PLL Clock Sources of 2nd External Output tab.

Buttons

Button

Description

Heightens the priority of the selected clock source.

Lowers the priority of the selected clock source.

Query

Query all the clock source.

New

Creates a clock source.

Delete

Deletes a clock source from the clock source priority table.

Apply

Applies configurations to NEs.

Shortcut Menu

Item

Description

Lock

Prevents the phase-locked source from switching.

The switching of clock source is not allowed if the clock source in the lock status.

Unlock

Clears the lockout status.

Forced Switching

Forces the phase-locked source to switch from the available clock source with the higher priority to the available clock source with the lower priority regardless of the available clock source with the lower priority status.

Manual Switching

Performs manual phase-locked source switching from the available clock source with the higher priority to the available clock source with the lower priority. If the available clock source with the lower priority is normal, the switching takes place. If the available clock source with the lower priority fails , the switching does not take place.

Clear Switching

Clear the switching status.

Parameter Description

Table 1 Descriptions of the parameters for priority table for phase-locked sources of external clock output

Field

Value

Description

Clock Source

For example: Internal Clock Source

Displays the name of the clock source.

NOTE:
  • You can only add clock source when the Enabled Status set as Disabled on the port in the following navigation path: Configuration > Clock > Port Cascading from the Function Tree.
  • Internal clock is the default clock source. After adding other clock sources, the internal clock is no longer used as a clock source.

Current Status

Valid, Invalid

Displays the active state of the clock source. If the clock source exists, its active state is displayed as Valid.

S1 Byte

For example: NA

Displays the trace source of the current NE clock. For query only.

This field displays no information until the S1 byte (clock protection function) is activated. Similarly, this field displays NA until you press the Query button, and then it displays the related information.

Lock Status

Lock, Unlock

Default: Unlock

Sets the locking state of the clock source, which is usually set to Unlock.

Current Trace Source

shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the clock source that the NE is currently tracing.

Switching Source

shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the switched clock source that the NE is tracing.

Switching Status

Forced Switching, Manual Switching, Normal

Displays the switching status of clock source.

Clock Source Priority Sequence (Highest: 1)

An integer greater than or equal to 1

"1" indicates the highest priority of the clock source. The priority increases as the value decreases.
