Description

Creating NEs

Creating and Configuring NEs > Creating NEs

-

Users can create NEs in two ways: manually create a single NE, or search for NEs and implement automatic creation of NEs in batches.

Creating Fibers

Creating and Configuring NEs > Creating Fibers

-

Users can create fibers on a NE.

Configuring NE data

Managing NG WDM NEs > Configuring Board Parameters

-

When configuring WDM services, you need to configure different boards in the network.

Configuring DCNs

Managing NG WDM NEs > DCN Management

SCC board, OTU board, line or tributary board, OSC board

The Web LCT communicates with NEs, and manages and maintains network nodes through DCNs. The supported solutions are HWECC, IP over DCC, and OSI over DCC.

Configuring NE time

Managing NG WDM NEs > Configuring the NE Time

-

Users can synchronize NE time with the Web LCT server.

Configuring clock

  • Managing NG WDM NEs > Physical Clock
  • Refer to Synchronization > IEEE 1588v2 (OTN) in the related Feature Description.

OTU board

  • Physical clock ensures frequency synchronization, which is the prerequisite for clock synchronization.
  • A Precision Time Protocol (PTP) clock is compliant with the IEEE 1588 V2 protocol and can realize synchronization of frequency and time. Hence, the scheduled synchronization index of the entire network is greatly improved.

Configuring WDM protection

Refer to the content in the related Feature Description.
  • Network Level Protection (OTN)
  • Network Level Protection (EoO/EoW)
  • Network Level Protection (OCS)
  • Network Level Protection (EoS)

-

WDM protection:
  • Board-Level Protection: Only the TBE board supports board-level protection.
  • Board-Level Protection: Only the TBE board supports board-level protection.

TDM protection: Only the OptiX OSN 8800 T16 and OptiX OSN 8800 T32 support TDM protection.

Configuring optical cross-connections

Managing NG WDM NEs > Configuring Optical Cross-Connections

-

Optical cross-connections cross-connect optical signals and are not related to the types of carried services.

Configuring WDM services

Refer to Configuring WDM Services (Manually by Station) in the related Configuration Guide.

-

Electrical cross-connections cross-connect electrical signals and are closely related to the types of carried services.

Configuring SDH services

Refer to Configuring the SDH Services in the related Configuration Guide.

EGSH board, SDH board, Universal Line Board

Only the OptiX OSN 8800 T16 and OptiX OSN 8800 T32 support this function.

Configuring overheads

Refer to OTN Overheads Technology in the related Feature Description.

OTU board

The OTN processing module inside the board processes the OTN overheads and thus helps the equipment monitor signals and report the performance events of the signals.

Configuring Ethernet features

Refer to Ethernet Feature Based on EoO/EoW in the related Feature Description.

Ethernet Switching and Processing Board, Ethernet OTU board, Ethernet Tributary Board

Product provides data service transmission technologies based on Ethernet over OTN (EoO) and Ethernet over WDM (EoW), and Ethernet over SDH (EoS).

Configuring packet features

Refer to Ethernet Feature Based on Packet and Network Level Protection (Packet) in the related Feature Description.

PND2, EG16, EX2, Universal line board

Only the OptiX OSN 8800 T16 and OptiX OSN 8800 T32 support this function.

Configuring ALC

Refer to Automatic Optical Power Management > ALC in the related Feature Description.

  • Reference Unit: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Power Check Unit: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Variable Optical Attenuation Unit: Optical Amplifier Board, Variable Optical Attenuator Board
  • System Control and Communication Unit: SCC

In the case of the abnormal attenuation of links, automatic level control (ALC) is used to maintain constant output power of optical amplifiers, satisfy requirements for optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) at the receive end, and ensure the quality of received signals.

APE

Refer to Automatic Optical Power Management > APE in the related Feature Description.

  • Power monitoring board: Optical Supervisory Channel Board
  • Power regulating board: Optical Add and Drop Multiplexing Board, Multiplexer and Demultiplexer Board
  • System control and communication board: SCC

The process for configuring automatic optical power equalization (APE) for the WDM equipment is described here. APE automatically adjusts the optical power of each channel at the transmit end, and optimizes the OSNR at the receive end.

IPA

Refer to Automatic Optical Power Management > IPA in the related Feature Description.

  • Detection Board: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Control Implementation Board: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Detect Auxiliary Board: OTUs, OSCs, Line Unit, TOM

The Web LCT provides the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) feature that ensures human security in the case of a fiber cut and equipment failure.

Configuring the IPA in a Raman System

Refer to Automatic Optical Power Management > IPA of Raman System in the related Feature Description.

  • Detection Board: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Control Implementation Board: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Detect Auxiliary Board: OTUs, OSCs, Line Unit, TOM, 14FIU
  • Raman Amplifier: Optical Amplifier Board
  • Auxiliary Raman board: Optical Amplifier Board
  • ROP board: ROP

The Web LCT provides the intelligent power adjustment (IPA) function in a Raman system. In the case of a fiber cut or equipment failure, the IPA function can be enabled to ensure operation security of link maintenance engineers and operators.

Configuring PRBS

Refer to Fault Isolation Basics > Common Fault Isolation Methods > PRBS Test in the related Troubleshooting.

SDH Network: SDH Board

WDM Network: OTU Board, Tributary Board

On the Web LCT, the meter board can be configured to send PRBS signals, and the client side and WDM side of the auxiliary board to transparently transmit the PRBS signals. In this way, you can perform the bit error test of the transmission link without attaching a meter to the equipment during the deployment.
