Setting Layer 2 Attributes of an Ethernet Interface

After Layer 2 attributes of an Ethernet interface are set, the interface can be used for connecting to the client-side equipment at the edge of an SDH network or for forwarding Ethernet packets within the SDH network. The Layer 2 attributes of an Ethernet interface define the related information of the data link layer.

Prerequisites

In Basic Attributes, Port Mode must be set to Layer 2.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Packet Configuration > Interface Management > Ethernet Interface from the Function Tree.
  2. Click the Layer 2 Attributes tab.
  3. Select the desired port and set the parameters as required.

    NOTE:

    Note the following issues during parameter settings:

    • QinQ Type Domain can be set only when Encapsulation Type is QinQ.
    • TAG can be set only when Encapsulation Type is 802.1Q.
    • Default VLAN ID and VLAN Priority can be set only when Encapsulation Type is 802.1Q or Null.

  4. Click Apply. Click OK, The Operation Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation is successful.
  5. Click Close.
