NE Communication Services

In this user interface, you can set the NE login mode (STelnet, Telnet or RAW Telnet server) and NE client (FTP or SFTP) communication services.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select the NE and choose Security > NE Communication Services from the Function Tree.

Background Information

When the Web LCT loads or upgrades packages for an NE, you need to enable the FTP or SFTP client communication service between the Web LCT and the NE for file transfer.

Parameter Description

Table 1 Parameters relevant to the NE communication services

Parameter

Settings

Description

Service

FTP Client, SFTP Client, STelnet, Telnet, RAW Telnet server

Indicates the NE communication service mode.

Using SFTP client and STelnet are recommended because of its higher security than others.

Status

Enable, Disable

Indicates the status (enabled or disabled) of the communication service type.

  • When the Web LCT uses FTP to load or upgrade packages for an NE, enable the FTP client.
  • When the Web LCT uses SFTP keys to load or upgrade packages for an NE, enable the SFTP client.
  • Enabling both FTP and SFTP client communication services does not affect the FTP or SFTP-based transfer function during package loading or upgrade.
NOTE:
  • If you switch this parameter from Enable to Disable, the FTP or SFTP file transfer function will be unavailable.
  • Using STelnet is recommended because of its higher security than Telnet and RAW Telnet server, although STelnet is more complex. To keep NE data secure, you are advised to use STelnet way to enable the status of the communication service type.
