ATM Policy

For ATM services, configure the ATM policy to perform the QoS control over the traffic.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click the NE and choose Configuration > QoS Management > Policy Management. Then, click the ATM Policy tab.

Buttons

Button

Description

New

Click New to create a ATM policy.

Delete

Select the desired ATM policy and click Delete.
NOTE:

The policy to be deleted is not used.

Apply

Configurations take effect only by clicking Apply after ATM policy parameters are modified.
NOTE:

The policy to be deleted is not used.

Query

Select the ATM policy for the query. Click the Applied Object tab and click Query. Information on the service that uses this policy is displayed.
NOTE:

The ATM policy is already applied to a service.

Copy

Copy the existing ATM policy as a new policy.

Parameters

Table 1 Descriptions of the parameters for ATM Policy

Field

Value

Description

Policy ID

Example: 5

Sets and displays the ID of the policy.

Automatically Assign

Checked and Unchecked

Selects whether the ID is allocated automatically.

Policy Name

64 bytes

Sets and displays the name of the policy.

NOTE:
You can select a policy name from the drop-down list or manually enter the policy name. The ATM service policy has five levels.

Service Type

UBR, CBR, RT-VBR, NRT-VBR, UBR+

Sets the service type.

  • UBR indicates the ATM service of an unspecified bit rate. With support for the non-real-time application, the UBR service has no guaranteed service quality and thus is applicable to transmitting IP data packets.
  • CBR indicates the ATM service of a constant bit rate. CBR is used for the connection that requires a static bandwidth. The CBR service is applicable to the real-time services that have high requirements of delay change, such as the audio, video and circuit emulation services.
  • RT-VBR indicates the ATM service of the real-time variable bit rate. As a real-time application, the RT-VBR requires strictly limited delay. The RT-VBR service is applicable to audio and video services.
  • NRT-VBR indicates the ATM service of the non-real-time variable bit rate. As a non-real-time application for burst traffic, the NRT-VBR service ensures a low cell loss ratio without limiting the delay.
  • The UBR+ service supports the setting of the MCR parameter. There are UBR+ services on many NodeBs. The UBR+ services are configured with the MCR. When the service rate does not exceed the configured MCR, the normal service transmission is ensured. The features of the UBR+ service other than the MCR are the same as the features of the UBR service.

Traffic Type

NoTrafficDescriptor, NoClpNoScr, NoClpTaggingNoScr, NoClpNoScrCdvt, ClpNoTaggingNoScr, ClpTaggingNoScr, ClpTransparenNoScr, ClpTransparentScr, NoClpScrCdvt, ClpNoTaggingScrCdvt, NoClpScr, ClpNoTaggingScr, ClpTaggingScr, AtmNoTrafficDescriptorMcr, AtmNoClpMcr, atmNoClpMcrCdvt

Sets the traffic service.

Clp01Pcr(cell/s)

90 to 149078

Sets the traffic descriptor, that is, Clp01Pcr.

Clp01Pcr indicates the maximum transmission rate of cells.

Clp01Scr(cell/s)

90 to 149078

Sets the traffic descriptor, that is, Clp01Scr.

Clp01Scr indicates the average transmission rate of cells during a long time.

Clp0Pcr(cell/s)

90 to 149078

Sets the traffic descriptor, that is, Clp0Pcr.

Clp0Scr(cell/s)

90 to 149078

Sets the traffic descriptor, that is, Clp0Scr.

Clp01Mcr (cell/s)

90 to 149078

Sets the traffic descriptor, that is, Clp01Mcr.

Max. Cell Burst Size(cell)

2 to 200000

Sets the maximum size of burst cells.

This parameter indicates the maximum length that the ATM cells can reach.

Cell Delay Variation Tolerance(0.1us)

7 to 13300000

Sets the cell delay variation tolerance.

This parameter indicates the maximum delay of the ATM cells.

Discard Traffic Frame

Disable, Enable

Enables or disables the flag for discarding the traffic frame.

UPC/NPC

Disabled, Enabled

Enables or disables UPC/NPC.

UPC indicates the usage parameter control and NPC indicates the network parameter control. After UPC/NPC is enabled, the cells with flags are discarded in the case of network congestion.

Service ID

Example: 5

Displays the ID of the configured ATM service.

Service Name

Example: ATM service

Displays the name of the configured ATM service.

Direction

Egress, Ingress

Sets the service direction.

Link ID

Example: 123

Display the ID of the connection.

Duplicated Policy Name

Example: QoS-test

Selects the name of the duplicated policy.

New Policy Name

Example: Test

Sets the name of the new policy generated by duplicating another one.
