MAC Swap Loopback

In this user interface, you can test the connectivity and quality of the network between the tester and the tested NE, including testing the NE.

Background

As shown in MAC Swap Loopback, the tester sends an Ethernet test frame to the desired NE over an Ethernet network. After receiving the frame, the NE matches it with the specified conditions (including the source MAC address, destination MAC address, and VLAN) on the loopback port and swaps the source and sink MAC addresses if the match succeeds. Then the NE returns the swap information to the tester through a specified interface, and the tester analyzes the network performance based on the returned Ethernet frame.
NOTE:
  • MAC swap loopback testing is a performance check technology for service interruption. All services on the tested port will be interrupted due to loopback. However, other ports are not affected.
  • If the test traffic is too heavy, the bandwidths of other services returned to the Ethernet frame interface will be occupied.

Parameter

Value

Description

Ingress Port

For example: Port 5

Indicates the ingress port of test packets.

VLAN

1-4094

Indicates the VLAN ID of test packets.

Loopback Port

For example: Port 5

Indicates the MAC swap loopback port.

Source MAC Address

For example: 00-00-00-00-00-00

Indicates the source MAC address.

Destination MAC Address

For example: 00-00-00-00-00-00

Indicates the destination MAC address.

Timeout Period(s)

60-2880, 65535
Indicates the overtime. If Timeout Period is exceeded, the loopback is automatically released.
NOTE:
The value 65535 indicates that no overtime is configured, and the loopback is not automatically released.
