Basic Attributes (External Port)

In this user interface, you can query and set basic attributes of a MAC port.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click the board and choose Configuration > Ethernet Interface Management > Ethernet Interface from the Function Tree. Click the External Port and then click Basic Attributes tab.

Caution

Be sure to enable the PORT port you want to use. Otherwise, the services you configure are down.
Set the same port mode for this port and the opposite port. If the port modes are different, services are down.
Loopback is an effective method for locating a fault. Be careful with performing a loopback as a loopback of any level is service-affecting.
A loopback is only used to locate a fault. Be sure to clear the loopback after the fault is cleared.

Parameters

Field	Value	Description
Port	PORTn For example: PORT3	Displays all the PORT ports that the Ethernet board can use. The value n indicates the PORT port number.
Enabled/Disabled	Enabled, Disabled Default: Disabled	Enabled means that the user uses this port and the service is available. Disabled means that the services at this port are not handled. Hence, you need to enable the port that you want to use when configuring services.
Working Mode	For example: Auto-Negotiation	Displays the working modes of the Ethernet port. Auto-Negotiation can automatically determine the optimized working modes of the connected ports. This mode is easy to maintain and is recommended. During configuration, make sure that working modes of the connected ports are consistent. If the working modes are different, the services are down.
Max. Frame Length (bytes)	For example: 1518	The Max. Frame Length (bytes) (Ethernet Port Attribute) parameter specifies the maximum frame length that is supported at an Ethernet port.
MAC Loopback	Non-Loopback, Inloop, Outloop Default: Non-Loopback	The MAC Loopback (Ethernet Port Attribute) parameter specifies the MAC loopback state at an Ethernet port. Port loopback setting is applied to locating faults only.
PHY Loopback	Non-Loopback, Inloop, Outloop Default: Non-Loopback	The PHY Loopback (Ethernet Port Attribute) parameter specifies the PHY loopback state at an Ethernet port. Port loopback setting is applied to locating faults only.
Physical Type	Reported value by query	Displays the physical type of port.
Logic Type	SDH-OPPORT, SDH-EPORT	Displays the logic type of port.
Port UP/DOWN Status	UP, DOWN	Queries the physical link connectivity of the port.
