Encapsulation/Mapping

In this user interface, you can set and query the encapsulation and mapping status of Ethernet data packets.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click the board and choose Configuration > Ethernet Interface Management > Ethernet Interface from the Function Tree. Click the Internal Port and then click Encapsulation/Mapping tab.

Guideline

Adhere to the following principles when planning the encapsulation and mapping of the Ethernet port:
  • Plan the same encapsulation and mapping protocol for both sides. It is recommended that you adopt the GFP protocol.
  • The parameters of the encapsulation and mapping protocol at both sides should be consistent. It is recommended that you adopt the default parameters of the protocol.

Parameters

Description

Port

VCTRUNKn

A VCTRUNK port numbered n.

Mapping Protocol Values of parameters vary with different boards and products. For details, click the links in the Description column.GFP-F, GFP-T The Mapping Protocol parameter specifies the mapping protocol of the VCTRUNK port.

The Ethernet services are a type of packet services. The SDH optical transmission network and SDH/PDH microwave, however, realize transmission of data based on time division multiplexing. Hence, the Ethernet services can be transmitted on the transmission network only after transmission tunnels are established by using the encapsulation and mapping protocols.

Scramble Values of parameters vary with different boards and products. For details, click the links in the Description column. The Scramble parameter specifies whether to scramble the payload area of the encapsulation protocol and the scramble mode.

Sets this parameter when the mapping protocol is GFP, HDLC, or LAPS.

Set Inverse Value for CRC Yes, No

Default: Yes

The Set Inverse Value for CRC parameter specifies whether to set an inverse value for the CRC field of the HDLC or LAPS protocol.

Sets this parameter when the mapping protocol is GFP, HDLC, or LAPS.

Check Field Length Values of parameters vary with different boards and products. For details, click the links in the Description column.FCS32, No The Check Field Length parameter specifies the length of the CRC field of the mapping protocol.

Sets this parameter when the mapping protocol is GFP, HDLC, or LAPS.

FCS Calculated Bit Sequence Values of parameters vary with different boards and products. For details, click the links in the Description column.Big endian The FCS Calculated Bit Sequence parameter specifies the sequence of storing the bits in the CRC field of the mapping protocol.

Sets this parameter when the mapping protocol is GFP, HDLC, or LAPS.

Extension Header Option Values of parameters vary with different boards and products. For details, click the links in the Description column. No, Yes The Extension Header Option parameter specifies whether Mapping Protocol of the GFP protocol supports the extension header.

Sets this parameter when the mapping protocol is GFP.
