ODUk SPRing

The ODUk SPRing protection mainly applies to the ring network with distributed services. This protection uses two different wavelengths to achieve the protection of multiple distributed services between all stations. In this user interface, you can configure the east working channel, west working channel, protection channel, span ID and management node of the ODUk ring network protection.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > ODUk SPRing from the Function Tree.

Buttons

Button

Description

Start Protocol

Starts the automatic protection switching protocol.

Stop Protocol

Stops the automatic protection switching protocol.

Query

Queries the ODUk protection group from the NE.

New

Creates an ODUk ring network protection.

Add Working Unit

Adds working units of the ODUk ring network protection.

Delete Working Unit

Deletes working units of the ODUk ring network protection.

Delete

Deletes the protection group.

Apply

Applies the configuration of the ODUk protection group to the NE.

Shortcut Menu Items

Shortcut Menu Item

Description

Bound Span ID

Sets the span ID for the protection unit.

Unbound Span ID

Deletes the span ID for the protection unit.

Lockout

Locks out the switching.

Forced Switching-Ring

Forcibly switches the service from the working channel to the protection channel. This switching does not consider the status of the protection channel, unless the protection channel must satisfy higher priority bridge request.

Manual Switching-Ring

Performs manual switching from the working channel to the protection channel. If the protection channel is normal, the switching takes place. If the protection channel has a failure or must satisfy higher priority switching, the switching does not take place.

Exercise Switching-Ring

Simulates the switching operation. It is not a real switching. By simulating the switching, you can test the multiplex section protection function of the ring network, without interrupting services.

Clear

Clears all the switching.

Parameters

Field

Value

Description

Protection Group ID

1 to 65535

Displays the ID of the protection group.

Level

ODU1, ODU2, ODU3

Displays the level of the protection group.

Protocol Type

Common Style, Enhanced Style

Sets the protocol type.
  • In Common Style protection, ODU1, ODU2 level is supported.
  • In Enhanced Style protection, ODU0, ODU1, ODU2, ODU3, ODU4 level is supported.
NOTE:
Enhanced style protocol can be set only when all the NEs in the ODUk ring network support the enhanced style protocol.

Select Mapping Direction

West Working Unit, West Protection Unit, East Working Unit, East Protection Unit

Select channels for working and protection units in west or east.

Available Channel

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)-channel number
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: slot number-board name-port number(port name)-channel number

Channel to be selected.

Selected Channel

Default: Null

Displays the selecting channel.

You can create a protection group when the Selected Channel contains at least East Protection Unit and West Protection Unit.

Switching Status

Unknown, The protocol is not started, The protocol is to be started, Idle, East Switching, West Switching, Full Pass-Through, APS Byte Pass-Through

Displays the switching status of the protection group.

Switching Request - West/Switching Request - East

  • Unknown
  • Locked
  • Protection SF
  • SF Ring Switching - Working SF Protection SF
  • SF Ring Switching - Working SD Protection SF
  • SF Ring Switching - Working SF Protection SD
  • SF Ring Switching - Working SF Protection OK
  • Forced Switching - Ring
  • Protection SD
  • SD Ring Switching - Working SD Protection SD
  • SD Ring Switching - Working SD Protection OK
  • Manual Switching - Ring
  • WTR - Ring Switching
  • Exercise Switching - Ring
  • No Request

Displays the status of east and west switching requests.

Remote/Near End - West

Unknown, Remote-End, Near-End

Displays the west remote and local ends indication.

  • Near-End: Indicates the local node, that is, the transmit end of the service.
  • Remote-End: Indicates the west adjacent node, that is, the respond end of the service.

Remote/Near End - East

Unknown, Remote-End, Near-End

Displays the east remote and local ends indication.

  • Near-End: Indicates the local node, that is, the transmit end of the service.
  • Remote-End: Indicates the west adjacent node, that is, the respond end of the service.

WTR Time (mm:ss)

5:00-12:00

Indicates the time interval between the time when the working service is detected to be normal after switching and the time when the service is switched back to the working path.

SD Switching

Enabled, Disabled

Displays whether the SD enable flag is enabled.

Management Node

Yes, No

Displays whether it is the management node.

  • The ODUk SPRing protection group must contain only one management node. The management node must be bound with services to serve as the source or sink node of the services.
  • When configuring the management node, one direction at least of the east and west working units is bound with a span ID.
  • In a common ODUk SPRing protection group, there must be only one management node.
  • In an enhanced ODUk SPRing protection group, management nodes are not essential to services.
  • A general node may or may not be bound with services. A node not bound with services is a passthrough node. Such a passthrough node facilitates forming a protection route when the services at another node are switched.

Protection Unit

West Working Unit, West Protection Unit, East Working Unit, East Protection Unit

Displays the east working unit, west working unit, east protection unit and west protection unit.

Channel Information

  • Equipment that supports the master and slave shelf management: NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)
  • Equipment that does not support the master and slave shelf management: NE name-slot number-board name-port number(port name)
NOTE:

For details about the differences between the standard and compatibility modes, see the Impacts of the Standard Mode on the Web LCT in Channel Model (OTU, Line or PID Board).

Displays the east working channel, west working channel, east protection channel and west protection channel.

Span ID
