M:N Protection

M:N protection groups efficiently protect working cross-connect boards. In this user interface, you can query board protection groups and perform protection switching.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, click an NE and choose Configuration > M:N Protection from the Function Tree.

NOTE:
  • M:N protection: protects cross-connect boards in a shared manner, that is, uses M protection boards to protect N working boards.
  • The OptiX OSN 9600/9800 U32 allows 7 cross-connect boards, and the OptiX OSN 9600/9800 U64 allows 14.

Query Protection Group

Queries the switching status and protocol status of protection groups from the NE.

Query Protection Group Status

Queries the switching status of the protection group from the NE.

Function

Locked Switching

Locks switching. If you lock switching for the working board, services are locked to the working board and will not be switched to the protection board.

If you lock switching for the protection board, the protection board does not provide protection.

During this operation, you can select only one record.

Manual Switching

Switches services manually between the working and protection boards.

During this operation, you can select only one working board and one protection board.

Forced Switching

Switches services forcibly between the working and protection boards.

During this operation, you can select only one working board and one protection board.

Clear Switching

Clears protection switching between the working and protection boards.

During this operation, you can select only one record.

Locked Switching

Locks switching. If you lock switching for the working board, services are locked to the working board and will not be switched to the protection board.

Indicates the status of a protection group. If logical boards are installed in all the working and protection slots required by the cross-connect mode, the value is Completed. Otherwise, the value is Uncompleted.

WTR Time(s)

300 to 720

Default: 300

Indicates the wait to restore (WTR) time. M:N protection is a type of shared protection. Therefore, its reversion mode must be revertive. WTR time determines when to switch services back to the original working board after the board is detected normal. If the working board is restored, services will be switched back to it when the WTR time is due.

  • For an inactive working board, the value is the slot ID of the protection board.
  • For an active protection board, the value is the slot ID of the working board.
