Changing the NE User Password

To ensure network security, you are recommended to change the NE user password periodically.

Prerequisites

The NE user has been created.

Context

When the default NE user password is not changed, the NE reports the PASSWORD_NEED_CHANGE alarm to the Web LCT, prompting for an immediate change of the default password.

NOTICE:

Change the password periodically for security purposes.

Procedure

In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Security > NE User Management from the Function Tree.
Perform the following operations to change passwords for different users:
- Other NE users in the NE list: Select the desired NE user from the NE list and click Set Password.
- Currently logged-in NE user: Click Set Current NE User Password.
NOTE:
Alternatively, you can click Set Current NE User Password in the NE list to change the password for the currently logged-in NE user.
In the dialog box that is displayed, set Old Password, enter a password in the New Password field, and enter it again in the Confirm Password field.
NOTE:
The password must meet the following requirements to safeguard your user account.
1. The password contains 8 to 16 characters.
2. The password cannot duplicate or reverse the user name.
3. The password contains at least three of the following characters:
  Lower-case letters
  Uppe-rcase letters
  Digits
  Special characters (~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ = + \ | [ { } ] ; : ' " , < . > / ? or spaces).
Click OK.
