Configuring Edge NEs

Configure edge NEs when inter-subnet communication is required.

Prerequisites

The user must have logged in to the NE.

DCN planning must have finished (including subnet division and inter-NE communication).

Context

If NEs in different subnets have to use the features such as ALC and APE, communication between these NEs (in different subnets) is required. In this case, inter-subnet communication must be planned. For this purpose, enable or create a DCC or GCC at an edge NE in each of adjacent subnets. It is recommended that you choose the DCC or GCC with higher bandwidth and change Protocol Type to HWMAC.

NOTE:

DCCs or GCCs are disabled or deleted for the edge NEs on subnets when a DCN network is divided into DCN subnets. When you configure inter-subnet communication, a DCC or GCC must be enabled or created.

Procedure

  1. Select the NE where the board is installed from the Object Tree in the NE Explorer. Choose Communication > DCC Management from the Function Tree.
  2. Optional: When you enable a DCC or GCC...
    1. On the DCC Rate Configuration tab, select the port of the board. Then set the Enabled/Disabled to Enabled, and set the Protocol Type to HWMAC.
  3. Optional: When you create a DCC or GCC...
    1. On the DCC Rate Configuration tab, click Create at the lower right.
    2. On the new tab, choose the desired port, channel, and choose the Protocol Type to HWMAC. Other parameters use the default value.
