TE links can be checked only when control channels between adjacent nodes are available in an ASON network.
Common Causes for Impassable TE Links
Common causes for impassable
optical layer TE links are listed as follows:
- Control channels are impassable.
- Alarms exist at the FIU port.
- The board software does not match with the NE software.
- Physical fibers are improperly connected.
- The pass-through node is upgraded to an ASON node.
Common causes for impassable electrical layer TE links are listed as follows:
- Control channels are impassable.
- Alarms exist on the corresponding link of the OTN board.
- The board software does not match with the NE software.
- Physical fibers are improperly connected.
Procedure
- Optical-layer TE links.
- Check the status of the control channel between the remote and the local nodes. If the control channel is not passable, see Handling Impassable Control Channels to rectify the fault on the control channel.
- Check whether alarms exist at the FIU port. If alarms exist, clear the alarms.
- Check the NE software and the board software. According to the mapping table, find the board software that is mapped with the NE software. If the NE software does not match with the board software, load the board software again.
- Check whether physical fibers are improperly connected. If the physical fibers are improperly connected, connect the fibers again.
- When you upgrade a pass-through node to an ASON node, change all services that pass through the node to other trails and, on the sources and sinks of the services and on this node, disable and enable the LMP protocol.
- Electrical-layer TE links.
- Check the status of the control channel between the remote and the local nodes. If the control channel is not passable, see Handling Impassable Control Channels to rectify the fault on the control channel.
- Check whether alarms exist on the OTN board.
If the TE links on the two ends are in the Disabled status, but the result of the alarm query is normal, you can view the networking in details to check whether fibers are improperly connected.
