You can perform a PRBS test on a path to check the quality of the path. The test result is displayed in the coordinates pane.
Prerequisites
- A service must be configured for the port for which you want to perform a PRBS test.
- The opposite port must be looped back before you perform a PRBS test.
Context
NOTICE: Performing a PRBS test interrupts services.
Procedure
- In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose from the Function Tree.
- Select a channel or a port and set Duration and Measured in Time in the Set Test Parameters area.
- Optional: Select Accumulating Mode. The test result is displayed in the coordinates pane in an accumulative manner.
- Click Start to Test. A dialog box is displayed, indicating that this operation may interrupt the service.
- Click Yes to start the PRBS test. After the test is complete, view the test result in the coordinates pane.
NOTE: - The vertical coordinate represents the number of bit errors found during the PRBS test. The unit is bit. The horizontal coordinate represents the test time.
- The graph can display 100 pieces of test results at most.
- The greatest value on the vertical coordinate is 100 by default. If a test finds more than 100 bit errors, the value 100 is used. The following are some default legends in use:
- Green: indicates that the PRBS test result is normal. That is, no bit error is found. The value 100 is used by default.
- Red: indicates that the PRBS test finds bit errors. The actual number of bit errors is displayed on the coordinate. In accumulative mode, the greatest value is used if the actual number of bit errors exceeds this value.
- Yellow: indicates that PRBS test data is invalid. The value 100 is used by default.
Follow-up Procedure
Cancel the loopback performed on the ports. See
loopback.
