Testing the Connectivity of IF Cables

By testing intermediate frequency (IF) cables, you can detect and locate faults on microwave equipment hardware. This helps improve the efficiency of fault diagnosis, and equipment installation and maintenance.

Prerequisites

  • You are user with Operator Group authority or higher.

  • The IF board and ODU are installed in two matched slots. The U2000 Web LCT automatically verifies an ODU (but not one from COMBA).

Context

After successfully configuring the ODU inloop, the U2000 Web LCT starts a pseudo random code test for the IF board. During the test, the U2000 Web LCT compares transmitted signals and the loopback results to determine whether the IF cable is faulty.

NOTICE:

Services on the ODU are interrupted due to the inloop, but will be automatically restored after the test is complete.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, choose Diagnosis&Maintenance > IF Cable Hardware Test from the navigation tree.
  2. Select the desired IF cable.
  3. Click Start Test.
  4. In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the test period and click OK.
  5. After the test is complete, click Save As to view the test results.

    NOTE:
    • You can ascertain the test results based on the cable color: red indicates failed and green indicates successful.
    • You can ascertain the alarm status of boards based on the board color.
