Configuring SNMP Communication Parameters

By setting SNMP communication parameters, you can enable the SNMP server to monitor alarms and performance events on an NE.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, click an NE and choose Communication > SNMP Communication Parameters from the Function Tree.
  2. Set related parameters.
    • Click Create, set the parameters in the window that is displayed, and then click OK.(USP platform)

      NOTE:
      • Set NMS IP Address to the IP address of the SNMP server that uses these communications parameters. If there are no restrictions on the IP address of the SNMP server that accesses the NE, set this parameter to 0.0.0.0.
      • Verify Read/Write Permissions, Read Community Name, and Write Community Name of the SNMP server based on the network plan. Read/Write Permissions, Read Community Name, and Write Community Name must take the same values as the right parameters set on the SNMP server.
      • The Write Community Name and Read Community Name must meet the following rules:
        1. It is a character string at least consisting of 6 characters.
        2. It contains at least two types of the following characters:
          • Lowercase letter: a-z
          • Uppercase letter: A-Z
          • Digit: 0-9
          • Special character: ` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ = + \ | [ { } ] ; : ' " , < . > / ? or space..
      • Set Trap Version based on the actual SNMP version.
  3. Click Apply.
