Remote OAM Parameter

To check the Ethernet by using the Ethernet OAM function, which is stipulated in IEEE 802.3ah, make sure that the OAM parameters are configured as the same for equipment at both ends of the Ethernet link. You can browse the remote OAM parameters to know the configuration of parameters at the remote equipment.

Navigation Path

For RTN NEs, in the NE Explorer, click the NE and choose Configuration > Ethernet OAM Management > Ethernet Port OAM Management. Then, click the Remote OAM Parameter tab.

Buttons

Button

Description

Query

Select a port and click Query. A dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful. Click Close.
NOTE:

You must enable the IEEE 802.3ah OAM function at the remote equipment.

Parameters

Table 1 Descriptions of the parameters for Remote OAM Parameter

Field

Value

Description

Port

slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Display the function port for the remote OAM.

Remote OAM Working Mode

Active, Passive

  • Active indicates that the port works in the active mode, and can start the OAM packets.
  • Passive indicates that the port works in the passive mode, and cannot start the OAM packets, but can respond to the packets started by the opposite.
NOTE:

This parameter is not supported.

Link Event Notification

Disabled, Enabled

If the performance events cross the threshold at the local port, the local port notifies the opposite port by using the link events.

NOTE:

This parameter is not supported.

Remote Side Loopback Response

Disabled, Enabled

If the port does not support the remote loopback, the port does not respond to the loopback request of the opposite port, no matter what status the OAM port is in.

NOTE:

This parameter is not supported.

Unidirectional Operation

Disabled, Enabled

Enable or disable the unidirectional operation. Enabled indicates that the port can transmit OAM packets to the remote end when detecting that the link becomes unavailable due to a fault in the receive direction, Disabled indicates that the port does not transmit OAM packets to the remote end when detecting that the link becomes unavailable due a fault in the receive direction.

Max. OAM Packet Length (byte)

Example: 128

NOTE:

This parameter is not supported.

OAM Discovery Status

FAULT, ACTIVE_SEND_LOCAL, PASSIVE_WAIT, SEND_LOCAL_REMOTE, SEND_LOCAL_REMOTE_OK, SEND_ANY

Display the remote OAM discovery status.

Port Transmit Status

FWD, DISCARD

Display the port transmit status.
  • FWD indicates that port transmits the non-OAM packets.
  • DISCARD indicates that the port discards the non-OAM packets.

Port Receive Status

FWD, LB, DISCARD

Display the port receive status.
  • FWD indicates that port forwards the non-OAM packets to the upper layer.
  • LB indicates that the port loops back the non-OAM packets.
  • DISCARD indicates that the port discards the non-OAM packets.
