MEP Point

The MEP point is the edge point in an MA.

Navigation Path

The E-Line, E-LAN or E-AGGR service requires information in this interface. The navigation paths for the three services are as follows:

Parameters

Table 1 Descriptions of the parameters for MEP Point

Field

Value

Description

Maintenance Domain Name

1-8 characters

The name of an MD should be unique in the entire network.

Maintenance Association Name

1-8 characters

The name of an MA should be unique in the same MD.

Board

Example: Slot-Board Name

Display the board where the MEP point is located. The format is Slot number - Board name.

Port

Example: Slot-Board Name-Port (Port No.)

Display the port where the MEP point is located. Slot number - Board name - Port information

Node

Example: Slot-Board Name-Port (Port No.)

Set the node as an MEP point.

VLAN

Example: 22

Set the current VLAN ID of the service.

NOTE:
This parameter can be manually set for the OptiX OSN 500 and OSN 550 when you configure exclusive port occupation. For other transport NEs, this parameters is unconfigurable.

MEP ID

1 to 8191

Set a unique ID for each MP. The ID is required for OAM operations.

Direction

Ingress, Egress

Ingress indicates the direction for packets to enter the board. Egress indicates the direction for packets to exit the board.

CC Status

Active, Inactive

Activate or deactivate the CC function of the MEP point.

AIS Active Status

Active, Inactive

Displays or sets AIS activation state.

Client Layer Level

0 to 7

Displays or sets client layer level.

From layer 1 to layer 7, the level is in a descending sequence.

Collect Proactive OAM Packets

Yes, No

Specifies whether to collect proactive OAM packets. The options are as follows:
  • Yes: collects 802.1ag protocol packets, such as CCM packets.
  • No: does not collect 802.1ag protocol packets, such as CCM packets.

Before measuring LM between two types of NEs, set Collect Proactive OAM Packets to No if the two NEs use different methods to collect statistics on various MEG levels of 802.1ag protocol packets. If the two NEs use the same method, set Collect Proactive OAM Packets to Yes or No.

If the two NEs are of the same type, set Collect Proactive OAM Packets to Yes or No regardless of the measurement method.

The value of Collect Proactive OAM Packets must be the same on the two involved NEs.

AIS Transmit Period

1s, 1min

Sets the period for sending alarm indication signal (AIS) packets.

RMEP ID

1 to 8191, Null

Indicates the ID of the remote MEP (RMEP). To check the RMEP of a MEP, choose OAM > Manage Remote MEP Point.

Priority

0 to 7, 255, Null

Indicates the type of the LM or DM performance monitoring policy. If you set this parameter to 255 or a number from 0 to 7, perform the following operations: Right-click the record and choose Browse Performance from the shortcut menu. On the RMON Setting tab, click the Event tab below and select the performance events to be monitored.
  • Null: No performance monitoring policy is set.
  • 255: A performance monitoring policy is set without a priority. The policy includes the following four performance events: packet loss rate of E-Line services, number of lost packets for E-Line services, delay of E-Line services, and jitter of E-line services.
  • 0-7: A performance monitoring policy is set with a priority (0-7). The policy includes the following 32 performance events: packet loss rate of E-Line services from priority 0 to priority 7, number of lost packets for E-Line services from priority 0 to priority 7, delay of E-Line services from priority 0 to priority 7, and jitter of E-line services from priority 0 to priority 7.
