Setting a Loopback for an Ethernet Interface

You can set a loopback for an Ethernet interface by using the U2000 Web LCT. The Ethernet interface loopback is a common fault location method used to test and maintain the Ethernet board. The Ethernet interface loopback is used to test the fiber connections on the Ethernet board, physical and MAC layers of the Ethernet interface, and SDH layer (that is, the line).

Procedure

  1. Navigation Path 1:
    1. In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose Configuration > Ethernet Interface Management > Ethernet Interface from the Function Tree.
    2. Click the Basic Attributes tab.
    3. Select an Ethernet interface from the list and double-click MAC Loopback or PHY Loopback to choose the loopback mode.
  2. Navigation Path 2:
    1. In the NE Explorer, select a board and choose Configuration > Interface Management > Ethernet Interface from the Function Tree.
    2. Click Advanced Attributes tab.
    3. Select an Ethernet interface from the list and double-click MAC Loopback or PHY Loopback to choose the loopback mode.
  3. Click Apply and the U2000 Web LCT prompts that this operation may interrupt the service.
  4. Click OK. A prompt is displayed indicating that the operation is successful. Click Close.
