Configuring Protocol Type (Layer 2 DCN)

In Layer 2 data communication network (DCN) networking, the Layer 2 DCN protocol must be enabled on ports.

The port is a microwave intermediate frequency (IF) port.

The Layer 2 DCN cannot be enabled on inband DCN channels and data communications channels (DCCs) of an IF port at the same time.

NOTE:

Set Protocol Type for NEs on a link to the same value; otherwise, the NEs cannot communicate with each other properly.

In outband DCN networking, perform the following steps to enable the Layer 2 DCN protocol on outband channels:
1. In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Communication > DCC Management.
2. Click the DCC Rate Configuration tab, set Enabled/Disabled to Enabled, and set Protocol Type to L2DCN.
3. Click Apply.
In inband DCN networking, perform the following steps to enable the Layer 2 DCN protocol on inband channels:
1. In the NE Explorer, select the NE and choose Communication > DCN Management from the Function Tree.
2. Click the Port settings tab, click IF, set Enabled Status to Enabled, and set Protocol Type to L2DCN.
3. Click Apply.
