BU Management

Branching units (BUs) are underwater devices in the submarine cable system. They provide branch routes for fiber transmission and power supply for underwater devices and provide sea earth for branches. When BUs' branches are faulty, you can switch the power supply on the BUs to reconfigure power supply circuit.

The BU 1650 is a branching unit (BU), working as an underwater device in the submarine cable system.
Creating a BU
After creating a BU, you can manage the BU in the NE Explorer of the SLM NE and submarine network view.
Maintaining a BU
Commonly used maintenance operations include modifying BU information, modifying lines bound to a BU, and deleting a BU.
Switching the Power Supply on a BU
When cables are cut in a submarine cable system, the power supply is switched on branching units (BUs) to ensure the power supply for the underwater devices that function properly. Hence, services on these devices will not be interrupted. In addition, BUs can ground faulty cables for maintenance.
