Configuring the LMU

After creating the topology, you need to configure the parameters for the LMU according to the project requirements. The LMU is used to monitor submarine equipment such as repeaters and submarine cables. It has a optical filter, and it can remove redundant ASE noise from receive side signal. Based on the optical time domain reflectometry (OTDR) technology, the LMU obtains the gain change information of the repeater, to locate fault points when the submarine cable is cut and test the working status of the line during the daily maintenance. The LMU provides the event analysis function for the OTDR curve reported by the line detection board, and also provides comparison and alarm reporting functions.

Prerequisites

The LMU must be installed.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select an LMU and choose Configuration > WDM Interface from the Function Tree.

  2. Click By Board/Port (Channel), and select Channel or Board from the drop-down menu. Click Query, and the list of the parameters for each optical port or channel is displayed in the user interface.

    NOTE:
When you select By Function, you can query and set the parameters for the board and channel according to different functions.

  3. Click the Basic Attributes tab or other tabs, in the field of the corresponding parameter, you can enter or select the corresponding parameter.
  4. Click Apply. A prompt is displayed. Click OK.
