Creating Lines

Submarine cable lines are objects managed by the submarine cable monitoring system. To manage and monitor the submarine cable system on the U2000 Web LCT, create submarine cable lines first.

Prerequisites

  • The LMU, LOA, LSU, and LMI boards have been configured on the SLM 1630 V100R001.
  • The LMU, LSA, and LMI boards have been configured on the SLM 1630 V100R002.

Context

  • The SLM 1630 V100R002 supports the management of bidirectional submarine cable lines on the U2000 Web LCT. With this function, you can view the source and sink NEs of a submarine cable line in the same window, improving the monitoring efficiency.
  • Lines are created in the NE Explorer. These lines must use the current NEs as their Source NE.
  • Lines are created in the submarine network view. These lines can use any NEs as their Source NE and Sink NE.

Procedure

  1. In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Submarine Cable Line Management from the Function Tree.
  2. Click New and set the attribute in the Create the Line dialog box.

    NOTE:

After you create a line, the LMU, LOA, and LSU boards on the line are automatically bound. When you create another line, the range of selected LMU, LOA, and LSU boards for the new line is determined if the selected boards are on other lines.

For example, line 1 is created as follows:

    • LMU: 6-LMU-1(IN/OUT)
    • LOA: 3-LOA-1(BAI/BAO)
    • LSU: 4-LSU-1(TI/RO)

When you create line 2, set LOA and LSU as follows if 6-LMU-1(IN/OUT) is selected.

    • LOA: This parameter value is automatically 3-LOA-1(BAI/BAO)
    • LSU: This parameter value must be a port selected from the remaining ports on the LSU board in slot 4.

    NOTE:
    • After you create a line, the B2LMU and B2LAS boards on the line are automatically bound. When you create another line, the range of selected B2LMU and B2LAS boards for the new line is determined if the selected boards exist on other lines.
    • If an OADM BU is used at the peer end or the peer SLM cannot be managed, values of parameters related to Sink NE are displayed as -.

  3. Click OK. The Operation Result dialog box is displayed indicating that the operation is successful. Click Close.
